Christian Ochoa Carrasco
Christian is an Ecuadorian pianist with international projection, his artistic career integrates solo performance, chamber music, pedagogy, and cultural management. Born in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador, he began his musical training at the age of six, developing from an early age a deep connection with the piano and an artistic sensitivity that has decisively shaped his professional path both nationally and internationally.
At the age of 15, he graduated with honors from the Conservatorio Superior de Cuenca, establishing a solid technical and musical foundation that allowed him to project himself rapidly within academic and concert settings. His training continued under the guidance of Mercedes Crespo at the University of Cuenca. With the aim of further enriching his musical education, he moved to the city of Quito, where he worked with pianist Paulina Alemán and later studied under the tutelage of Andrés Torres.
His career has been recognized in various national and international competitions. He was awarded First Prize at the “Jóvenes Talentos OSL” Competition, an achievement that led to his debut as a soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Loja, marking an important milestone in his development as a concert pianist. He also received First Prize at the “Jóvenes Pianistas del Mundo” Competition, organized by Pearl River and Almacenes Eljuri, and Third Prize at the “First Beethoven Chamber Music Competition – Quito”, together with the CLARA Chamber Trio, an ensemble with which he maintains an active and ongoing chamber music activity.
In 2019, thanks to a scholarship, he auditioned at Drake University (United States), where he received masterclasses from pianist Dr. Nicholas Roth. He later obtained a scholarship to continue his studies at the prestigious Universidad San Francisco de Quito, where he studied Contemporary Music Performance with Dr. Gianni Bianchini and María Ruth Giesbrecht, deepening his engagement with contemporary repertoire and the dialogue between tradition and new musical aesthetics.
Alongside his artistic activity, Christian maintains a strong pedagogical vocation. He currently serves as a piano instructor at the All Arts Academy in Quito and at Academia Clave Sol, working with students of different ages and levels. His pedagogical approach is characterized by comprehensive instruction that combines technique, interpretation, musical analysis, and artistic development, encouraging in his students a conscious and profound relationship with music.
Committed to the training of new generations and to the creation of spaces for artistic exchange, he is the director and founder of the “International Festival of Young Pianists”, a project created with the aim of promoting emerging talent and generating high-level learning opportunities. Through this festival, he has brought together teachers and artists of recognized international prestige, reaffirming his conviction that music education is a fundamental pillar of cultural development.
In 2025, he undertook a significant international tour that included several performances in Mexico, where he offered concerts, recitals, and academic activities at prominent venues and cultural institutions. He subsequently made his debut in New York City, consolidating his artistic projection in one of the world’s most influential cultural centers. The tour concluded in Colombia, with a concert in the city of Medellín, further strengthening his presence within the Latin American musical circuit.
His artistic work has achieved international projection and has been recognized by Forbes Ecuador and Cosas magazine in the context of his musical and cultural management activities.
Currently, Christian is in the development and projection phase of InspiraFest, a multidisciplinary arts festival based in Quito, conceived to become an international cultural reference. The project will bring together artists from music, dance, theatre, and visual arts, as well as exhibitions, concerts, and masterclasses. Through InspiraFest, his goal is to promote artistic exchange, support emerging talents, and consolidate a sustainable platform for culture and the development of future artistic initiatives.
