Christian Ochoa Carrasco

Concert pianist, chamber musician and piano professor from Cuenca, Ecuador, Christian Ochoa Carrasco began his musical training at the age of six and graduated with honors from the Conservatorio Superior de Cuenca at fifteen. Under the guidance of Mercedes Crespo, he continued his studies at the University of Cuenca, later expanding his education in Quito with Paulina Alemán and at the Fundación Zaldumbide Rosales with Andrés Torres, where he continues to develop his art.

As director of the first International Festival of Young Pianists, he reaffirmed his commitment to music education by bringing together distinguished professors of international prestige. His dedication to training new generations of musicians is evident in each of his projects. He was awarded First Prize in the OSL Young Talents Competition, making his debut with the Loja Symphony Orchestra. His talent was also recognized with an Honorable Mention in the Young Pianists of the World Competition and Third Prize in the First Beethoven Chamber Music Competition – Quito, as a member of the CLARA piano trio.

In 2019, thanks to a scholarship, he auditioned at Drake University (USA), where he took masterclasses with pianist Dr. Nicholas Roth. He currently continues to refine his artistry while teaching at All Arts Academy in Quito and at Clave Sol Academy. He also received a scholarship to further his education at the prestigious Universidad San Francisco de Quito, where he studied Contemporary Music Performance with professors Dr. Gianni Bianchini and María Ruth Giesbrecht.

In 2025 he undertook an important international tour that included several performances in Mexico, offering concerts and academic activities at renowned venues. He later made his debut in New York City, consolidating his artistic projection in one of the world’s most influential cultural centers, and concluded the tour in Colombia with a concert in Medellín.

Christian is currently in the stage of development and projection of InspiraFest, an arts festival in Quito that aims to become an international cultural landmark. He is actively working on the planning and management of the event, which will bring together talents in music, dance, theater, and visual arts, as well as offer exhibitions and masterclasses. With this project, his goal is to foster artistic exchange, support emerging talents, and establish the festival as a sustainable space for culture and the development of future artistic initiatives.

His work explores the history and evolution of the piano repertoire, with a special emphasis on Latin American music.
