Christian Ochoa Carrasco

Christian is a concert pianist, chamber musician, accompanist, and piano teacher from the city of Cuenca, Ecuador. He began his training at the age of 6 and graduated with honors from the Conservatorio Superior de Cuenca at 15. Under the mentorship of Mercedes Crespo, he continued his studies at the University of Cuenca and furthered his education in Quito with Paulina Alemán and at the Fundación Zaldumbide Rosales with Andrés Torres until the present day.

As the director of the first “International Festival of Young Pianists,” he has reaffirmed his commitment to music education by inviting renowned professors of international prestige. His dedication to training new generations of musicians is evident in each of his projects. Additionally, he won first prize at the “Young Talents OSL Competition,” debuting with the Loja Symphony Orchestra. His talent was also recognized with an honorable mention in the “Young Pianists of the World” competition and with third prize in the “First Beethoven Chamber Music Competition – Quito,” alongside the CLARA piano trio.

With a scholarship in 2019, he was able to audition at Drake University (USA) with pianist Dr. Nicholas Roth. Currently, he refines his artistry and teaches at the All Arts Academy in Quito and the Clave de Sol Academy. He received a scholarship to complete his studies at the prestigious Universidad San Francisco de Quito, where he studied with professors Dr. Gianni Bianchini and María Ruth Giesbrecht.

He has participated in international competitions, including one in Pasto, Colombia, and gave a notable solo piano concert in Medellín. Christian Ochoa Carrasco, with his interpretive skill and commitment to musical excellence, leaves a lasting mark on music in Ecuador.

Christian is in the phase of projection and development of InspiraFest, an arts festival in Quito that aims to become an international cultural reference. He is currently working on the planning and management of the event, which will bring together talents in music, dance, theater, and painting, along with exhibitions and masterclasses. With this project, his goal is to promote artistic exchange, boost new talents, and establish the festival as a sustainable space for culture and the development of future artistic initiatives.

His work explores the history and evolution of the piano repertoire, with a special emphasis on Latin American music. As a lecturer, he aims to create spaces for reflection and learning, sharing his experience with musicians and diverse audiences.
