“As a child, I listened to my father and my grandfather play the piano, and although they were not professional musicians, they would always play at family gatherings. That was how I discovered the power music has to make the people I love happy.” He therefore began studying music at the age of six; the piano—and art itself—have been his companions and greatest allies throughout his life journey.
Christian Ochoa Carrasco, 28, was born in Cuenca but lived in Quito. He recalls that from an early age he enjoyed tackling the most complex piano works with great enthusiasm; his sensitivity and talent have earned him recognition. “True works of art are immortal; they tell the stories we have all lived at some point: love, passion, pain, suffering, anguish, or happiness… When I perform my own works or those of composers such as Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Mozart, among others, I seek for the audience to connect through those experiences they have also lived.”
In addition to giving concerts in different cities around the world, he is also dedicated to teaching. During the pandemic, he organized the First International Festival of Young Pianists, and this year—beyond his tour in Mexico—he will be performing in the United States and Colombia, where he will promote Ecuadorian piano music through professional recordings.
